2017 Subaru Impreza: A Used-Car Shopping Guide
Researching a used 2017 Subaru Impreza near Delray Beach, Boynton Beach or Boca Raton? Start with the body style and equipment you need, then compare the actual vehicle's condition, service records and asking price. This guide describes the historical 2017 U.S. model; it does not advertise new 2017 inventory.
Sedan or Five-Door? Compare the Four Trims
The 2017 lineup offered a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback in 2.0i, Premium, Sport and Limited grades. All used a 152-hp 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER engine and standard all-wheel drive. Base and Sport versions offered a five-speed manual or CVT; Premium and Limited used the CVT.
- 2.0i: a starting point with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
- Premium: adds heated front seats and other All-Weather Package equipment. The five-door has roof rails.
- Sport: emphasizes driving feel with distinctive suspension tuning, 18-inch wheels and an 8-inch multimedia screen.
- Limited: adds leather-trimmed upholstery, a power driver's seat, automatic climate control and LED headlights.
EyeSight was available on eligible configurations; do not assume every 2017 Impreza has it. Reverse Automatic Braking and other assistance features also require checking the particular vehicle's equipment. Roof rails and a power seat were not universal features.
Six Checks Before You Buy a Used Impreza
- Confirm the configuration. Match the VIN, trim, transmission and installed options to the listing. Bring your phone to test smartphone compatibility.
- Try your everyday seating and cargo. Adjust the seat and mirrors, test rear-seat access and bring the items you carry regularly. Compare hatch access with the sedan's trunk.
- Review maintenance and history. Ask for available service records, vehicle-history information, open-recall status and inspection findings. Resolve gaps before deciding.
- Check tires and condition. Ask the team to explain tire wear, tread, matching specifications, brakes and any recommended work. Look for damage, water intrusion or unusual odors.
- Evaluate the drive. Use an appropriate route to assess steering, ride, braking and transmission behavior. Ask a technician about warning lights, unusual sounds or concerns; a short drive cannot establish long-term reliability.
- Compare the complete purchase. Request an itemized quote and any warranty terms in writing. Ask whether coverage is included, optional or unavailable for that specific car.
