Subaru Japan Teases WRX with STI-Derived TY85 Manual
Updated October 24, 2026: Subaru Japan says it plans to announce a production WRX manual-transmission model in November 2026. The model uses the high-capacity TY85 six-speed manual previously fitted to WRX STI models. Subaru's development update describes the TY85 as durable and reliable and says the WRX is intended as a regular catalog model for Japan.
This is a Japan-market announcement. Subaru has not confirmed a U.S. model year, U.S. availability, final specifications, pricing or Delray allocation. It does not confirm a new WRX STI.
Subaru Japan is also developing a BRZ Complete Car and a five-door production hatchback based on the Performance-B STI concept. U.S. naming and availability for those projects remain unconfirmed.
